Subject: Recos for Contractor for an Addition

Date: September 23, 2012  5:08 PM EDT

Last spring/summer we renovated our brick cape cod (doubled footprint on three levels). I am over the moon with the results. . . .

Our architect Mike Nawrocki was superb.  He understood my wishes to incorporate/retain the character of the original cape. His plans involved creating a new hallway through the center of the house...  It really joins the house as one, creating natural flow between the new and existing sections of the floorplan.  He also "got" my style and worked with our builder to adjust the fine details / trim work / design elements as they were building....

Give Mike a call, that's how we started exploring options for our renovation!  You are welcome to stop by and see our house as well.

. . . A second recomendation for Mike Nawrocki. He worked on our renovation (6 years ago) and I still love everything about it (flow, trim, detail, aesthetics, functionality, etc.)

Hi Mike,

We wanted to write to you saying thanks for your help with our renovation. We have had some time to actually live in the new space since completetion.  We absolutely love our new master suite and two-car garage.  Visitors and family have commented on how inviting the view is to our bedroom suite from the main hallway.  Your design really works! . . .

Please feel free to use us as a reference. We will enthusiastically give you our highest recommendation.

. . . After several interviews, we chose Nawrocki Architects in McLean Virginia.  Firm principal Michael Nawrocki impressed me in the first minutes of our first meeting. . . .  MIke's

creativity coupled with attention to our budget allowed us to accomplish so much more than we had initially expected.  We are two years ahead of where we thought we would be. . . .

When it came to design, I wanted talent, creativity and innovation.  But when it came to budget, materials and methods, I needed a seasoned and mature counselor who could provide measured advice and perspective.  Mike has a very engaging style, listens acutely and designs directly around the clients' needs.  I am confident that I got both the best result and best bang for the buck. . . .  Mike devises the best plan to turn good ideas into great ideas, and then into great results!

Dear Bonnie,

I'm happy to recommend Mike Nawrocki very highly. My wife and I were very pleased with his services. He listened carefully to our ideas and plans and made practical and clever suggestions in working out various design issues. He drew up a full set of working drawings that our contractor then used for purposes of adding a 3-story addition to our house. We have received many compliments from friends and neighbors on how skillfully the new addition blends into the existing house. Our contracting firm had such a good experience working with Mike that they have since done several more projects with him. They were impressed with his architectural knowledge, the thoroughness and quality of his drawings, and his easygoing manner and professionalism, and so were we.

Good luck on your project,

At the risk of going on and on, I have to tell you - I LOVE IT!   It so perfectly suits our style and at the same time is so special and unique compared to anything else in Great Falls. We kept looking at the old drawing side by side and thanking the Lord that we didn't move forward!!!

Talk to you Monday - have a great weekend,

Dear Mike,

I have to tell you we are enjoying the house so much. The feedback we get from passers by is amazing. Mike and I have enjoyed the porch so much this summer; and especially now that the weather has cooled off, it is a GREAT place to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner, entertain, read the paper, or just hang out. You did an awesome job with all of the fine details. We are so proud to live in such a beautiful home.

Many thanks and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Here is our initial feedback to your visit... Monday afternoon and evening Debbie and I agreed to let the impressions and ideas percolate without discussion.
Tuesday, we talked. Debbie was - dare I say it - ebullient about your visit, and creative ideas. . . . I was close to giving up on the whole idea of remodeling - until now.
So, by showing us a house that is still full of possibilities, and by revitalizing my (our) dwindling hopes of a home we can both be happy with, you've already earned some accolades . . .
We enjoyed meeting you and look forward to the next step.
Mike D.

Yes, we're thrilled to be enjoying the house now that (almost) all of the work is done.

The design is working well both as a home space and an entertaining space. Last weekend, more than 40 people attended a joint birthday party for Denise and one of her friends -- proof that the house can easily handle such a group. Because of the intense heat, no-one went outdoors, but it didn't feel particularly crowded inside and there was ample room to circulate. We heard many compliments on the house, which you should accept as compliments to you.

We enjoyed working with you too Mike, and I hope we can stay in touch.

Alan and I would like to thank you for all of the creativity and inspiration that went into the plans for our new home. As you could probably tell from our positive feedback in our meeting yesterday, we are very pleased with the work you all have done. We will spend more time looking over them and will get back to you sometime next week. Thank you for making this first phase of the process so enjoyable. Please forward this message on to the rest.
